The RMA President, members of the Awards Committee and anyone else involved in the award process will not be eligible for the award.

The award will be given to the paper most in keeping with the society’s and journal’s overarching goals, namely: “the development and analysis of mathematical models as tools for resource management and policy development,” reflecting “the conceptual and methodological core that is common to model building throughout disciplines including such fields as forestry, fisheries, economics and ecology,” particularly those “concerned with the sustainable utilization of renewable resources and their vulnerability to anthropogenic and other disturbances,” serving “as an antidote to disciplinary fragmentation.”

Criteria

The awarded paper will rate highly in the following attributes:

• Reach—the methods or results should be relevant to the broad natural resource modeling community
• The degree to which the contribution provides value for future applications, or enables improved practice
• Clarity and excellence of the composition
• Originality of the ideas or methods

Eligibility

• Only current RMA members are eligible for the award.
• All papers published in Natural Resource Modeling during the previous two calendar years will be considered automatically provided at least one of the authors is a current member.
• Papers published in other journals may be nominated for consideration provided at least one of the co-authors is a current member. To be considered, the submission must comprise: (1) an electronic version of the paper in English, and (2) a nominating letter specifying why the paper is deserving of the Rollie Lamberson Award.
